Rest day in Troyes
My aim today was to impersonate a cat, mostly snoozing occasionally interrupted by food and a gentle stroll. I woke up at 7am, had a cup of tea and went back to sleep. After a suitably large breakfast, predominantly croissants, I had a walk around the beautiful and surprisingly uncrowded town.

The old city has half timbered houses and interesting shops. I’m not an enthusiastic shopper but my little grandson now has a very cute new outfit and there are some delicious patisseries in the fridge in my room waiting to be devoured.

An afternoon nap, a bit of light reading, a long soak in the bath and a cheeky glass or two of rose plonk should hopefully turn the sleepy moggy back into a cyclist before tomorrow’s reacquaintance with Bob the bike.
The gothic churches with stained glass windows were beautiful and remarkably peaceful.
