Como to Teglio
Breakfast with the bizarre serving from the buffet arrangement was more successful than I anticipated, mainly as I was allowed to boil two eggs all by myself! Cycling out of Como was a little stressful with rush hour traffic and then there was a rush of competitive cycling as the new riders seemed to want to prove themselves. I hung back and happily did my own thing, enjoying the amazing views of the lake as we cycled up the western edge. Sadly George Clooney did not make an appearance.

At the top of the lake we turned into the river valley of Valtellina and could see the mountains again.

Just after I took this photo, a bee flew into my ear which was a thoroughly unpleasant experience for both of us. I eventually flushed it out with water and it doesn’t seem to have done too much damage. At least it diverted attention from my legs slogging their way up a rather rude end of the day climb.

The Hotel Combolo has a restaurant specialising in traditional Valtellinese cuisine, I’m just hoping it arrives quickly!
Apologies to family and friends in England who have had revolting weather today…

It did indeed arrive quickly and was predominantly cheese and buckwheat, all delicious but resulted in a painful tummy when I went to bed. At midnight I was asking Dr Google if bee stings cause stomach bloating - I took a strong antihistamine and I’m fine!
