Chalons to Troyes
A Tour de France style day, zooming past fields of sunflowers in a mini peloton, tucked in behind Canadian father and son speedy duo, Ted and Connor, lots of fun but my legs hate me!

The day started on a cycle path along the river Marne and ended with an absolutely beautiful 40km bike path through the Parc Naturel de la Foret d’Orient. If only we could have paved, quiet bike paths like this in the UK.

The legs were helped along by an almond croissant which must have contained at least 50 miles of calories.
And of course another delicious picnic lunch from our lovely guides.
We are now in the land of half timbered houses and there were some beautiful buildings on the route. I was too busy trying to hang onto the peloton to take photos but fortunately John shared his lovely photos.
Today’s 84.5 miles take the total so far to 471 miles with a much needed rest day tomorrow.
Dinner was proper posh at Le Valentino next door to the hotel, fortunately for the knackered legs. We were sitting outside under a huge umbrella with added drama from a torrential rain storm. That would not have been pleasant on the bike.
