Artres to Sedan

Cycling in France makes me so happy - it was a very long ride today so I took carb loading to a whole new level - croissant & baguette for breakfast, pain au raisin snack, baguette sarnies and apple tart for lunch, chocolate snack, apricot tart on arrival…!
The ride today took us through Ardennes pedalling up and down quiet country lanes where my mind can just empty while my legs do all the work. I was a bit apprehensive about such a long ride but I absolutely loved it.

Obviously I had a good chat to the cows…

The only traffic jam today…

The towns and villages were also quiet and very pretty, lunch was in Signy-le-Petit where not much appears to happen.

Our destination was Sedan and apparently the biggest castle in Europe, but Chris and I still went round in circles trying to find the entrance.

The hotel is in the castle and once we had passed the vaccination scan, a cold beer tasted rather good in the sunny courtyard. My room has a castle wall and the usual post biking day mayhem.
